Out of love for our seminarians and the people whom they will serve as priests, we desire a formation program that excels in all areas: human, spiritual, pastoral, intellectual.
Through the work of the Holy Spirit, God brought the Companions of the Cross into existence to help renew the Church through a dynamic evangelization. Sacred Heart Major Seminary specializes in “preparing heralds for the new evangelization”. Renewal Ministries, “dedicated to fostering renewal and evangelization in the Catholic Church”, with whom we have already collaborated, have some of their staff also teaching at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. Dr. Ralph Martin, one of them, was even appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as a consultor to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization. Their training in evangelization is not merely theoretical, but also guided, practical, “hands-on” experience.
“We want academic studies to foster love of the Church and give a thorough grounding in her teaching. In Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, we have more than just that.”
But the new evangelization is not the only link between Sacred Heart Major Seminary and ourselves. SHMS works at instilling a love for the Eucharist and Our Lady in its seminarians.
“Our seminarians are thrilled that professors will pray with the students in class for a fuller outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Sacred Heart Major Seminary also gives the seminarians training in leadership and other areas valuable for their future ministry.”
Our seminarians are able to study both philosophy and theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.
