What was your background before you joined the CC?
I grew up in a traditional French Catholic family the youngest of seven. Growing up on a beef cattle farm in Saskatchewan opened the door for me to work in various areas of construction which eventually lead me to a lucrative 5 year career in logging. Although I no longer pack one in the trunk of my car, I still enjoy going out with the chainsaw now and then. In my fifth year of logging I gave God permission to direct the next year of my life which led me to two years with the National Evangelization Teams (NET), which proved to be the first step in discerning priesthood. The next step was attending university which involved being part of Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) which helped me continue onto the next step of discernment which was moving to Ottawa to join the Companions of the Cross.
What led you to join this community?
It actually began with a supper of pizza and beer at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. Fr. Bob hosted that supper. He was one of the speakers at that year’s national charismatic conference, and I was ministering at the youth track, while still serving with NET. Needless to say I rather enjoyed spending time with Fr. Bob and some of the other brothers from Ottawa and I went on to accept his invitation to come visit him in Ottawa. That step lead to seminary ; )
What kind of ministry are you doing now?
I currently serve as the Associate Pastor of St. Mary's Parish in Ottawa, ON.
