Fr. Simon Lobo, CC is Appointed Pastor of St. Benedict Parish

Fr. Simon and Fr. James celebrate MassFr. Simon Lobo, CC has been appointed pastor of St. Benedict Parish in Halifax, NS, effective July 1.

"I have asked Fr. James to accept a position of episcopal vicar for parish renewal and leadership support which he has accepted. In this capacity, Fr. James is being asked to bring his experience and understanding to the implementation of our archdiocesan pastoral plan by assisting our pastors, parochial administrators, and parish leaders in the transformation of our archdiocesan church to meet the challenge of evangelization in our present circumstances. Fr. James' work with the divine renovation ministry has provided him with information, methods, and skills which are influencing many parishes in many parts of the world. This wisdom and experience I am asking Fr. James to make available to our parishes, people and priests, and I look forward to the blessings this will bring to our local church." (Bp. Anthony Mancini, Archbishop of Halifax-Yarmouth Catholic Diocese)

Fr. James will work half-time as episcopal vicar and half-time with the Divine Renovation ministry, effective July 1.

"I am also pleased to announce the appointment of Fr. Simon Lobo, Companion of the Cross, as pastor of St. Benedict." (Bp. Anthony Mancini, Archbishop of Halifax-Yarmouth Catholic Diocese)

"I love this parish. I loved being your pastor. It is a dream come true... The thought of not being here is in some ways like a knife in my heart. So, there is sorrow. But, I have to be honest, and I have to tell you that there is also great joy... The man who will replace me is this guy right here (Fr. James motioning towards Fr. Simon). Fr. Simon Lobo, CC came here 2 years ago and the plan was that we would mentor him to go and lead somewhere else. This was not a part of the plan. But, God is a God of surprises. It is a long story of how this came about." (Fr. James Mallon)

"You think you're shocked. How do you think I feel? There was this rumour going around, which I think I started, that I would be leaving as of the end of June, which I had every inclination that that was the plan. So this came out of no where... This is a God thing, God has acted sovereignly to bring this about. I am filled with gratitude." (Fr. Simon Lobo, CC)

"There is an incredible team here working together and you are all on the team. We are in this together. And, together we are going to continue to do great things for God." (Fr. Simon Lobo, CC)
