Law As Disciplinarian

Law does not give us the strength and the grace to fulfill the commandments.

1. The Law was given to us as a disciplinarian before the coming of Jesus Christ but it does not give us the strength and the grace to fulfill the commandments.

God wrote on the tables of the Law what men did not read in their hearts. - St. Augustine

"The Law is holy, spiritual and good, yet still imperfect. Like a tutor it shows what must be done, but does not of itself give the strength, the grace of the Spirit, to fulfill it." - CCC 1963

2. It is in growing in faith in our relationship with Jesus Christ that will help us to obey the commandments. He will be the one to give us a new heart to observe carefully His ordinances. Ez 36:26-27

3. Blessed are those who will obey the commandments of the Lord. Luke 11:28
