Who are the stars that we follow that could lead us closer to Jesus?
We see in this latest Star Wars movie and other movies, how they depict darkness with something that is evil and the light with something that is good.
Three Points of the Homily:
1. Jesus is the Light
In our first reading today, the Prophet Isaiah prophesying 700 years before the birth of Jesus, said “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! For darkness shall cover the earth and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you.” (Is 60:1) This prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus was born, who is the Light of the World.” (Jn 8:12)
2. The Light is for All
Our second reading it says that, "This mystery [about Christ] was not made known to humankind as it has now been revealed to his holy Apostles and Prophets by the Spirit: that is, the Gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel.” (Eph3:4-6) This reminds us that for God there are no foreigners, no outsiders. For God there are neither Jews nor gentiles for we are all children of God. The Light that is Jesus is not just for Israel but for the whole world.
3. Search and Share that Light
Who are the stars that we follow that could lead us closer to Jesus? The Stars that are worth following that can lead us to Jesus are the saints. Another way is by surrounding ourselves with people who can draw us closer to God by their words and how they live their life.
