Reflection on the canonizations of St. John Paul II and St. John XXIII
People are drawn to models of holiness. Holiness is attractive.
There have been countless examples of holy men and women throughout the history of the church who have inspired others to model their lives after these saints. Holiness moves people. It softens their hearts. It helps them choose mercy and generosity. It draws people closer to the Lord.
Sainthood is for all of us.
One of the best ways for us to grow in holiness is by encountering God's mercy and then becoming apostles of mercy. Mercy changes everything. It changes the world. A bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just.
