Detailed Itinerary*

Day 1 - Depart Ottawa for Edinburgh, Scotland (Sun, Sep 25)

  • 4:00 PM Ottawa departure for Toronto/Edinburgh

Day 2 - Edinburgh (Mon Sep 26)

  • Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Mary’s
  • Edinburgh City Tour
  • Edinburgh Castle Tour

Day 3 – St. Andrews / Oban (Tue Sep 27)

  • St. Andrews in Fife, (named after the apostle Andrew; patron Saint of Scotland)
  • St. Andrews Cathedral Ruins (Largest medieval church in Scotland)
  • St. Andrews Golf Course: View course from where Golf is believed to have been invented in the 15th century
  • St. Andrews Castle: 450 years of history as Scotland's Episcopal palace, a fortress and a state prison
  • Travel to City of Oban (West Coast)

Day 4 - Isle of Mull (near Oban) / Glasgow (Wed, Sept 28th)

  •  Isle of Mull;
    • ancient St. Colomba’s monastery of Iona, established in 583 A.D., where Book of Kells was written;
    • Iona Abbey – known as burial place of kings.
  •  Glasgow City Tour (Time permitting)

Day 5 - Belfast (Thu, Sep 29)

  • Fly to Belfast,
  • Belfast Cathedral
  • Belfast City Tour
  • Free Time / Shopping

Day 6 - North Coast of Northern Ireland (Fri Sept 30th)

  • Giant’s Causeway 
  • Dunluce Castle Tour
  • Return to Belfast for overnight

Day 7 - Donegal (Sat Oct 1)

  • Enter Republic of Ireland
  • Donagal Castle Tour
  • Overnight hotel in Lough Eske Castle

Day 8 - Knock Shrine / Croagh Patrick / Kylemore Abbey (Sun Oct 2)

  • Travel to Knock
  • Knock Shrine
  • Croagh Patrick
  • Kylemore Abbey (West of Galway)/Galway Cathedral

Day 9 - Clare (Mon, Oct 3)

  • Clonmacnoise - Ireland's most important monastic site ruins
  • Cliffs of Moher
  • 2 night stay in beautiful resort in County Clare

Day 10 – Kerry (Tue Oct 4)

  • Cahir Castle
  • Rock of Cashel
    • 13th century Cathedral, 12th century Round Tower and Cormac Chapel
  • Return to resort in Clare

Day 11 - Wicklow / Glendalough (Wed, Oct 5)

  • Glendalough:  Ancient monastic city, established in the 6th-century by St. Kevin -  guided tour
  • Mountains of Wicklow, called the “Garden of Ireland”
  • Overnight in Wicklow

Day 12 - Dublin (Thu Oct 6)

  • Dublin City Tour, including entrances to:
  • National Museum
  • Trinity College and the Book of Kells
  • Choose from:
    • St. Mary's Pro Cathedral and St. Patrick's Cathedral; or
    • Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (Christ Church Cathedral) and The Guinness Storehouse
  • Overnight at Bellinter House, Meath

Day 13 - Meath County (Fri Oct 7)

  • Return to Dublin or stay with group to see:
    • Knowth Passage Tombs, in the County of Meath, north of Dublin.
    • Hill of Tara
  • Return to Hotel in Meath

Day 14 - Dublin / Ottawa (Sat, Oct 8)

  • Breakfast and good bye’s
  • 12:25 Departure for Toronto/Ottawa
