What was your background before you joined the CC?
Before joining the CC's: Growing up on an apple farm in Southern Ontario I had a keen interest in agriculture and fruit farming. Upon graduation from the University of Guelph in 1976 I worked briefly for an agribusiness firm in my area. Shortly thereafter, I joined my father in a farming venture with a view of reinvigorating our family farm while opening our own family run road side market called the Apple House. While working on the farm, I tried a stint as an Ontario Corrections Officer with a view of becoming a probation officer. I am forever indebted to Fr. Peter Coughlin for helping me in this multifaceted vocational journey toward priesthood by offering me an opportunity to work as a parish pastoral worker at St. Charles Garnier Parish in Hamilton before beginning my seminary studies in 1980.
What led you to join this community?
Shortly after completing my seminary studies at St. Augustine's seminary for the Diocese of Hamilton I came to Ottawa in May of 1985 to visit with Fr. Bob Bedard at St. Mary's Parish. I was immediately attracted to the vision and purpose and spirituality of a new community of priests that was being founded by Fr. Bob at the time, shortly thereafter, named the Companions of the Cross.
What kind of ministry are you doing now?
I am currently the associate pastor of Annunciation of the Lord Parish.
