Food For Life
Founded in 1984 by Fr. Bob MacDougall, (who ministered for many years with David Mainse and “100 Huntley Street”) with Fr. MacDougall’s retirement in 1992, Fr. Bob Bedard and Fr. Roger Vandenakker of the Companions of the Cross began hosting the program.
“Food For Life” is now hosted by Fr. Mark Goring, Kathy Ovcjak and features many regular contributors including Fr. Terry Donohue, and Chris Keyes. The program ministers to Catholics within their church traditions and culture, preaching the Gospel message using an easily understood "layman's" phraseology. Basic terminologies are explained and the program's focus is upon the Christian life from a biblical and Catholic perspective. Our hosts and all of the featured guests share from their hearts Catholic teachings which are aimed at bringing home the relevance of faith and scripture in today's world: an aspect pleasing to many whose "religious education" has ended with school.
Through the television program of “Food For Life” and its associated ministry, people are being reached with the message of the Gospel in a way which transcends denominational boundaries but is, at the same time, sensitive to the needs and spirituality of Roman Catholics. Throughout the program, a strong emphasis is placed on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ coupled with local church involvement and participation.
“Food For Life” is not underwritten by any one organization but is made possible through the generous support of the weekly viewing audience.
