How to Avoid Backsliding

In the Christian life we are either ascending up the mountain, or we are sliding downwards. We have to be intentional about continuing to ascend.

We are fighting against the world, the flesh, and the devil. Satan is real and his objective is to take you out, to destroy you. These three things are trying to make sure you don't ascend the mountain any further.

5 tools to help you to avoid backsliding:

  1. Daily prayer and daily reading of scripture - we have go to be spending time every day, at the same time and at the same place, in prayer. Make it habitual. Give yourself some sort of realistic challenge and commit to it.
  2. Weekly mass - Come to mass at least once a week.
  3. Monthly confession
  4. Community - Find some way to keep meeting with brothers and sisters in Christ. We can't do this Christian thing by ourselves. We need the support of each other.
  5. Be open to mission opportunities - Give the faith away. The best way to protect our faith is to share it, offer it to another person.

“No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)

I am going to look forward. I am going to keep walking in God's freedom.
