Humility is True Greatness

The Lord will exalt the humble.

Three points of the homily:

1. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
2. Humility is true greatness
"Humility is not thinking of yourself less but thinking less of yourself." - C.S. Lewis.
"The soul's true greatness is in loving God and in humbling oneself in His presence, completely forgetting oneself and believing oneselft to be nothing; because the Lord is great, but He is well- pleased only with the humble; He always opposes the proud." - St. Faustina
3. Three ways to grow in humility:
a. Accept humiliation that comes our way.
b. Think of others as better than we are.
“Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves.” (Phil 2:3)
c. Serve others.
Pope Francis reminds us we must not place ourselves above others but step down to serve them, especially the poor and vulnerable.
