Children: Darren, Dennis, and Daniela Marie

We would lovingly like to thank the Companions of the Cross during their joyous occasion. Walter and I were brought together again after ten years of civil marriage, to one given through Christ and His Church. Fr. Daren Bryk gently helped lead us to all the right people who would continue to help guide us and carry us through our married life so we might love God more and learn more about Him. As a result of our new transformation in Christ, we baptized our two children, Darren and Dennis, and wholeheartedly, accepted our places in God's church. After some years, we welcomed our new baby girl, Daniela Marie, conceived right before our first pilgrimage to Medjugorje, and we were overjoyed! We are eternally grateful to our Lord's precious shepards, our Companions of the Cross Priests. May God bless you always and His Blessed Mother protect you always. You are in our prayers and hearts, faithfully.

In January of 1997, on my way from Kanata to St. Mary’s chapel, I was reflecting on my relationship with Jesus and how I got there. I thought to myself, that it was all about Fr. Bob and his homilies. He made Jesus so approachable. Jesus became my best friend, my Savior, who loved me – a sinner. I accepted my weakness and frailty as a human being, a child of God. I thought that Fr. Bob was so much like Jesus, humble yet Bold, called every one by name. As I walked out of the chapel that day, I was overcome with a sense of loss due to my unemployment situation at that time. Before I walked out the door, I asked my Lord, “Oh Lord, how I wish that I could get a hug from you, just to rest my head on your shoulders for a moment.”

I opened the door of the chapel to step out into the hallway, and there was Fr. Bob walking towards me with his arms wide open. He gave me the biggest hug and a kiss to my forehead. I had just recently sent him a letter, to which he replied. I received the letter 2 days later in the mail with hugs and kisses at the bottom of the page. I have no doubt that the Lord sent Fr. Bob in answer to my prayer. The letter is framed and is currently hanging in my prayer room.

I love Fr. Bob with every fiber of my being. When I learnt of his illness, I left St. Mary’s church that Saturday morning and drove to the Civic to the ICU. I was sobbing so hard that I could not speak to the receptionist. I wrote a note to Fr. Bob, telling him that I loved him and that I would start a Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes for his healing. I believe that the note was left with him at his bed side. I prayed like everyone else and was truly overjoyed with the miraculous recovery.

This is at a time when Fr. Bob was teaching at Pius X – He had a basketball team. One day when he was playing at Lester B. Pearson High School, he called ahead of time. I was living at Blackburn Hamlet. He asked if he can come and have some of my wife’s spaghetti. He came and my youngest daughter, Teresa was 3 years old. Fr. Bob dribbled some sauce on his shirt, and Teresa called him – Spaghetti Man. Many years later, Teresa was getting married at St. Mary’s Church. Fr. Bob officiated. He came up to the podium and he said, “Teresa, this is spaghetti man.” Teresa remembered that she did call him spaghetti man. This is testimony to Fr. Bob’s great memory.
